CANDIDATE STATEMENT
I've been a director on the Lane Electric Board since 2014 and have received my Co-op Directors Certification and maintained the Gold Continuing Education Certificate annually. To keep up with current issues, I have also attended state- wide, regional and national conferences.
My husband and I have lived in the McKenzie area for almost 50 years and we are very fortunate to have survived the Holiday Farm Fire. Because of that experience I am very concerned about emergency communication in rural areas and now have my Ham (KJ7OZO) and (GMRS) General Mobile Radio Service (WSAM330) licenses. We need to be organizing with our neighbors so we have ways to check-in on and help each other during emergencies.
Now is a crucial time to be a director on the Lane Electric Board, which will be making important decisions that will be affecting all members. We need to continue to prioritize employee and member safety - including wildfire and disaster planning. The board will also be researching where to purchase our power for the next 20 years by continuing to find the most economical and greenest possibilities. In addition, we will also be optimizing our new smart meters and welcoming our new members in the lower McKenzie.
I feel I have the energy and experience to be your representative - not only for the McKenzie area, but for all of Lane Electric.
