Elise Thackara

School of Choice Scholarship - Recipient of $3,000

Wanting to experience an environment different than what she has been use to, Elise Thackara has decided to continue her education at the University of San Diego.

Elise is a recipient of a Lane Electric $3,000 School of Choice Scholarship.

The recent Creswell High School graduate will be trading her small hometown for the much bigger city of Southern California.

“I want to study an integrated engineering program with a sustainability focus,” the 17-year-old says. “The big city will provide a lot of opportunities, internships and career jobs.”

Elise says she hopes to eventually work in waste water treatment or air pollution.

At Creswell High, Elise has learned leadership skills while holding the positions of associated student body president as a junior, class president as a senior and team captain of the varsity softball team. She’s taken several advanced classes and graduated with 40 college credits.

Elise’s family has been a Lane Electric member for the past 70 years

“I’m super grateful to Lane Electric for the opportunity to apply for a scholarship and to be a recipient,” she says. “I’m super excited to move forward.”
