Oregon Prepared: Lane Electric & Neighboring Utilities Talk Wildfire Response With First Responders

scenic view of a river, trees, and a mountain in the backgroundOn April 18, Lane Electric joined hundreds of emergency managers, health officials, and first responders from across Oregon to exchange ideas and discuss emergency response methods.

Now in its ninth year, the Oregon Prepared workshop provides participants with training and information on programs, current issues, lessons learned, and best practices related to all phases of emergency management. The workshop is hosted by the Oregon Department of Emergency Management.

The Oregon Public Utilities Council moderated a conversation between investor-owned and consumer-owned utilities regarding power outages during high wildfire risk.

Lane Electric shared how it manages the electric system during wildfire season, partner and member communication, and what is important for first responders to know about the co-op’s grid management.

As Lane Electric continues to improve its system resilience and reliability, these events help strengthen its existing Mitigation Plan, which was updated and submitted to the OPUC in 2024.
