We look forward to taking over the delivery of electric service to the lower McKenzie beginning on May 1, 2026. In preparation, we've collected a few important dates, updates, and resources that will be helpful for you pending transition.
If you have any question, feel free to reach out at (541) 484-1151 or info@laneelectric.com.
Resources
We have multiple billing cycles. New members who transitioned in from EWEB will be billed from the 26th through the 26th of each month.
After May 1. Lane Electric is usable to generate member numbers until May 1, due to restrictions with data transfers.
As soon as member numbers are assigned, account setup can take place.
Member numbers will be emailed and mailed out in the first week of May. At that time, you can set up your online SmartHub account.
Details will also be provided for online account set up.
If you have your EWEB account set up to pay from a checking account, that information will transfer.
If you pay with a debit or credit card, you will need to set that up with Lane Electric on or after May 1.
Yes! Lower McKenzie members will fall into two districts. Those east of Ross Lane will be part of the McKenzie District.
Those who reside west of Ross Lane will be part of the Central District.
As a member-owner, you will vote for all seven elected board members - even those outside of your district.
You can find a map of Lane Electric's service territory and details on the Board of Directors here.
Yes. Lane Electric offers very similar options to EWEB. You can find more information here.
Beginning on May 1, you can call and speak with an Energy Services Representative. At that time, we'll have records from EWEB and can look into what programs you may benefit from.
Yes. Pole tags will be updated to Lane Electric. There will potentially be a period when poles may have both Lane Electric and EWEB tags.
EWEB is sharing gate code information with Lane Electric. Starting on May 1, you can also call and confirm we have the correct information on file.
For Net Metering Agreements signed on or after May 1, 2026, the Cooperative will credit the Member for the excess kilowatt-hours generated during the billing period in subsequent, serial billing periods. The Member will be compensated at avoided cost for any excess generation in the billing period immediately following the generation of excess energy.
Such compensation will take the form of a bill credit.
You will have the same meter until Lane Electric can begin upgrading the lower McKenzie area meters in May. Your new meter will look pretty much the same as the old one.
No. This is an investment the cooperative planned for and has spread over the past several years.
No meter changes will take place before May 1. Once Lane Electric assumes ownership of the lower McKenzie, we will begin a meter upgrade for all new members.
This is part of a multi-year project that the cooperative is about to complete across our existing service territory. You can learn more about it here.
Power delivery will not be impacted on May 1 when Lane Electric officially begins serving your property.
You’ll keep paying EWEB. Lane Electric is only assuming ownership of electrical power delivery.
You can check the outage map on our website or our Facebook page. You can also always call 541-484-1151 and speak to a Member Service representative or our after-hours call service.
More directly, you can always check the light on your Generlink.
Yes. There will be no impact on the operation or connection for Generlinks.
Lane Electric does not generally require deposits. Dependent on credit history or other circumstances, we may require an advance payment or deposit from some of our members.
That is a membership deposit required by our bylaws. Think of it like opting into a credit union. It’s your money, and it will be refunded to you at the end of your membership.
