Staying Ready Together
September is National Preparedness Month, a reminder that emergencies can happen at any time.
And that rural communities are strongest when we prepare together.
Electric cooperatives across the country, including Lane Electric, are investing in wildfire mitigation, grid hardening, and emergency coordination to keep our communities safe.
You can take simple steps at home to stay ready, including:
- being two-weeks ready
- keeping devices charged and cars gassed up
- signing up for emergency alerts from Lane County and the state of Oregon
- ensuring your contact information with the cooperative is up to date, and we have multiple ways to contact you
These small actions make a big difference during storms, wildfires, or unexpected outages.
There are also a number of groups in Lane County doing great work to prepare local communities that you can engage with, such as:
- Row River Valley Community Partnership
- Oakridge Air/ Southern Willamette Forest Collaborative
- Upper McKenzie Community Center
- McKenzie Fire & Rescue
