Uniting Rural Service

On July 12, we held our 2025 Annual Meeting of the Members at Churchill High School.

It was a great day. We thank you, our members, for coming out in the heat to celebrate community and discuss the future of the cooperative.

1 significant potential development I spoke about is the exploration of Lane Electric taking over the service of the lower McKenzie River from our partners at the Eugene Water and Electric Board.

As you read on Pages 28 and 29, we are in an early stage of exploration on this, but we do believe there is an excellent opportunity for the cooperative to unite the service of the McKenzie area, from Thurston Road in Springfield to Belknap Springs.

Lane Electric’s strength in serving rural communities, combined with our service model, makes a strong case for taking over this territory from a utility that focuses on urban service.

This study will extend through 2025. At that time, we hope to have an agreement with EWEB regarding the best service for all members. A priority for both utilities is to maintain reliability and ensure no additional cost to existing members.

We will update you and provide opportunities for you to ask questions as we continue to explore this opportunity.
