| Detailed Checklist for Residential / Commercial
Projects |
- Step One
You have either decided to learn more about weatherizing your home,
would like to change out your windows, or you simply want your electric
bills to go down. Whatever your reason, call our Energy Services
Department at (541)484-1151 and we will help you take the next step.
- Step Two
When you call, our Energy Services Department, one of our representatives
will determine whether or not an energy audit has been performed
on your home. If not, you will be added to our list and an appointment
will be scheduled for us to visit your home. If we have a current,
up-to-date file on hand, you will be sent a report outlining what
program incentives you may be eligible for through Lane Electric.
- Step Three
Select which measures you are interested in doing (Remember, insulation
levels must meet LEC standards before any window funding is available).
Once you receive your report from us, you will need to determine
which measures you would like to install. In your report you will
find a paper entitled Recommendations. This sheet lists all available
measures that are eligible for funding. Please note: Since our
program budgets are limited, your eligibility for funding is only
valid for 30 days once you receive this information. If more
than 30 days have passed, please call our office for further assistance.
- Step Four
Decide which funding option you wish to apply for. Option #1 is our
low interest loan program; Option #2 is our grant program. Both programs
are described on the first page of your report we sent to you (entitled Home
Energy Loan Program).
- Step Five
Solicit bids and apply for project pre-approval. We recommend that
you get at least two bids from contractors on the list we’ve
provided. Each contractor must fill out a Uniform Bid
Sheet (or pre-approved substitute). Return your bids
with the completed Notice of Bid Preference/Program Option and
credit application (in the case of a loan) with your choice of lender, to
Lane Electric for review. The Credit Union/Bank will contact
you if further information is needed to process your loan application.
If you select Option #2, return the Notice of Bid Preference/Program
Option and bids only. Be sure to indicate the contractor(s)
you have selected to perform the work.
If you elect to do the work yourself, contact the Energy Services Department
and request further instructions. You will need to fill out a Uniform
Bid Sheet indicating all of your estimated material costs.
Return your bid and the Notice of Bid Preference/Program
Option form, entering “Do-it-yourself” under
the contractor heading.
- Step Six
Project and Funding Approval. LEC will review your project for eligibility.
In the case of loan approval, Lane Electric will contact you within
48 hours of bank approval with further instructions. Direct fund
or Grant approval will be provided by Lane Electric within 5 working
days. Do not obligate yourself to a contractor or begin
work yourself until you receive project authorization from Lane Electric.
- Step Seven
Install Measures. After project and funding approval, Lane Electric
will contact your selected contractor in writing to confirm project
funding and eligibility.
- Step Eight
Inspection Request. Once the work has been completed to your satisfaction,
you and your contractor(s) must fill out the enclosed Inspection
Request Form and return it to LEC. Upon receipt, we will
schedule an inspection as soon as possible.
- Step Nine
Contractor Payment. Pacific Cascade Federal Credit Union or Umpqua
Bank will release loan funds to the contractor only
after inspection and approval by Lane Electric. Grant funds through
Lane Electric will be paid directly to the contractor after
the job passes final inspection.
